Most of us know that sense of completeness, that full-circle moment.Nihil Young’s debut album Compass is built from exactly those moments. It moves from the day he met his wife, through the birth of his first daughter, to the loss of his father. These are not abstract concepts. They are the real events that shaped the music.
The album is a journey of melodic, progressive music written and crafted by Nihil from the instruments all the way through to the lyrics and songwriting. He used every skill he has on this body of work, and it shows. Early ideas were left rough for a long time. He stayed with the unfinished versions instead of reaching for quick polish, believing that purpose matters more than surface perfection.
Compass features collaborations with Rowland Giles, Leo Wood, Lasada, Jordan Arts, FRDRK, Adriana Stone, TYGR TYGR and more. Each track feels as considered as the last.In a time when finished-sounding music is easy to generate and teams of producers often hide behind a single name, this album remains a solo effort at its core. The story, and the soul behind it, still belong only to the person who lived it.

Nihil Young Biography
Nihil Young (born Mattia Marotta) is an Italian DJ, producer and electronic music artist specializing in emotional melodic techno, progressive house and indie dance. With over 15 years of experience, he channels raw feeling into deep, immersive tracks that connect with listeners on a personal level.
As a writer and producer he has passed 100 million streams. As an artist he has more than 30 million streams on Spotify alone. His music regularly appears on major playlists, charts in the Beatport Top 10 and draws support from tastemakers worldwide.
He has released on Toolroom, Purified, Odd One Out (Yotto), Saved, Kittball, Zerothree, Vandit, Armada, Spinnin’, Enhanced, Sony, Universal and others. Standout records include the best-selling Alchemy EP on Odd One Out, the Lonely Night EP on Purified, Toolroom favourites such as Luna, Upper Love and Motions, plus the 10-million-stream track Hey Now.
Key collaborations include How It Feels with Franky Wah on Shén Recordings, work with Jordan Arts, and the official remix of Time by Vintage Culture feat. BRAEV (from the album Promised Land).
Under his earlier alias Less Hate he delivered remixes for Dennis Ferrer, Roland Clark, Kevin Saunderson, Inner City and Étienne de Crécy.
He founded and A&Rs his own label Frequenza and hosts the monthly Dark To Light radio show on Frisky Deep.
In 2025 he released the Hypnosis EP with Ashkan Dian & Unseen on Perspectives Digital (title track featured on Spotify’s Electronic Rising cover), followed by Frequenza singles Bring It Back and Out of Control.
2026 marks a new chapter with his debut album Compass LP, released on Zerothree (Toolroom Records Group) on 14 August.
