DARK TO LIGHT - NIHIL YOUNG RADIOSHOW ON FRISKY RADIO DEEP
Nihil Young, born Mattia Marotta, is an Italian DJ, producer, and electronic music artist celebrated for his emotionally charged soundscapes that blend melodic techno, progressive house, and elements of indie dance. With over 15 years of experience in music production, he specializes in Progressive House, House, Tech House, and Melodic House & Techno. Known for his innovative productions and a refusal to stick to one style, Nihil Young allows each track’s story and raw emotion to guide its direction, creating deeply melodic, gripping journeys that resonate with listeners worldwide.
He has released on prestigious labels such as Toolroom, Realm, Purified, Odd One Out, Saved, Kittball, Zerothree, Vandit, Armada, Spinnin’, Universal, Sony, and Enhanced. Previous genre-defining works include standout releases on Purified Records such as the “Lonely Night” EP (marking his debut on the label with serene, majestic melodic offerings), “Spitfire,” “River,” and “Drown,” which helped solidify his presence in the melodic house and techno scene. On Yotto’s Odd One Out imprint, the “Alchemy EP” became a best-selling melodic house and techno release, featuring tracks like “Alchemy” and “Solitary” that showcased his emotive, progressive style. On Toolroom, key tracks like “Upper Love,” “Luna,” “Body Language,” and “Motions” contributed to his reputation in deeper, club-oriented house and techno. Notable collaborations also include “How It Feels” with Franky Wah on Shén Recordings, which received widespread acclaim, as well as tracks with Jordan Arts like “Breathe” and “Calling” on Enhanced. His tracks have consistently charted in the Beatport Top 10s and been featured on major curated playlists by Spotify and Apple Music. Popular releases include “Hey Now” (over 10 million streams), as well as standout tracks like “Visions,” “A Feeling,” “Sacred” (with Tom Ferry & ARi on Enhanced), “Out of Control” and “Bring It Back” on his own imprint Frequenza, and more recent works. As of March 2026, Nihil Young has amassed over 30 million streams on Spotify, with approximately 302,000 monthly listeners.
Under his earlier alias Less Hate, he produced classic and genre-defining remixes and original work, releasing on labels such as Kindisch (by Get Physical Music) and King Street Sounds, including remixes for legends like Dennis Ferrer, Roland Clark, Kevin Saunderson and Inner City, as well as a remix of “You” by the legendary French producer Etienne de Crécy featuring Madeline Follin.
Nihil Young is the founder and A&R of the Frequenza label and hosts the monthly “Dark To Light” radio show on Frisky Deep, where he showcases melodic techno and house selections, including his own originals.
In 2025, he released the “Hypnosis” EP in collaboration with Ashkan Dian and Unseen on Perspectives Digital in May, featuring indie dance remixes by Kiko, Waltervelt, and Djvakabular. The release earned significant recognition when the track “Hypnosis” was featured and placed on the cover artwork of Spotify’s Electronic Rising playlist. Throughout the year, his monthly “Dark To Light” episodes continued to highlight melodic techno and house, including originals like “Visions.” Late in the year, he delivered key singles on his own imprint Frequenza with “Bring It Back” (announced as his final single of 2025 in December) and “Out of Control,” a focused melodic/indie dance track with heavy low-end and vocal hooks.
In 2026, Nihil Young kicked off the year by beginning work on his debut album, marking a significant new chapter in his career. The first single from this forthcoming album, “A Feeling,” was released on Zerothree in February 2026 and received major support, including play on A State of Trance (ASOT 1267) by Ferry Corsten in March 2026. Early in the year, he also released the collaboration “Sacred” with Tom Ferry & ARi as a two-track single on Enhanced, followed by the original mix of “Automatic” on Magnetic Magazine Recordings as a standalone melodic techno track. He further expanded his remix catalog with his take on Dennis Sheperd, Aldor, and Katty Heath’s “In The Dark” (supported by artists like Solarstone and JES) and a melodic remix of Vintage Culture ft. BRAEV’s “Time,” showcasing his signature touch on high-profile tracks.
Nihil Young continues to evolve his sound, with his 2026 album project representing an exciting upcoming phase in his career, building on his established reputation for expressive and captivating electronic music. Forthcoming highlights include a collaboration with Dirty Doering on his Berlin-based label KATERMUKKE and a remix from Jerome Isma-ae on his track “Animals” (with Zy Khan & Madison Palmer) on Songspire (Black Hole Recordings).
